Kashmir


Kashmir was a Muslim-majority tributary state ruled by a Hindu king during the British partition in 1947. Being a Muslim majority, the state was supposed to be united with the establishment of a  Muslim state but the last king of Kashmir, Hari Singh, joined India. this is the beginning of the Kashmir problem.


 At present, 43% of Kashmir is under Indian control, 37% is under Pakistani control and 20% is under Chinese control. These include Jammu-Kashmir Vally, Ladakh, Siachen Glacier in India, Azad Kashmir in Pakistan, and Akashi China, Trans Karakoramtrakt in China. So far, India and Pakistan has fought a total of four wars over Kashmir. The wars took place in 1947, 1965, 1971, 1999. India and China fought a war over Kashmir in 1962.
